August 15th The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Prayers)

VIGIL MASS.

Entrance Antiphon

All honour to you, Mary! Today you were raised above the choirs of angels to lasting glory of Christ.

Collect

Let us pray

[that the Virgin Mary will help us with her prayers]

Almighty God,

you gave a humble virgin the privilege of being the Mother of your Son, and crowned her with the glory of heaven.

May the prayers of the Virgin Mary bring us to the salvation of Christ and raise us up to eternal life.

R.) Amen.

OR

Let us pray

[with Mary to the Father in whose presence she now dwell]

Almighty Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

you have revealed the beauty of your power by exalting the lowly virgin of Nazareth and making her the mother of our Saviour.

May the prayers of this woman clothed with the sun bring Jesus to the waiting world and fill the void of incompletion with the presence of her child who lives and reign with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

R.) Amen.

Happy are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.

MASS DURING THE DAY.

Entrance Antiphon

great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon beneath  her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head.

OR

Let us rejoice in the Lord and celebrate this feast in honour of the Virgin Mary, at whose assumption the angels rejoice, giving praise to the Son of God.

Collect

Let us pray

[that we will join Mary, the mother of the Lord, in glory of heaven]

All-powerful and ever-living God,

you raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of your Son, body and soul to the glory of heaven.

May we see heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory.

R.) Amen.

OR

Let us pray

[that with the help of Mary’s prayers we too may reach our heavenly home]

Father in heaven,

all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you.

In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in  her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.

May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join her hymns of endless life and praise.

R.) Amen.
